Upton Folk Dance and Song Society organise the Upton Folk Festival (May Day Bank Holiday weekend) and other occasional folk related events.
Upton Blues Festival has grown from a small event in a couple of pubs into a festival that swamps the town with many thousands of music fans, two main stages, an acoustic stage and ten pub venues creating over 100 performances in three days.
Upton upon Severn is the home of the world-famous International Jazz Festival, which attracts thousands of visitors in the last weekend of June. It features around 60 concerts of New Orleans and Classic Jazz, Swing and Jive music, plus street parades and a jazz Church Service. The Festival reached its 29th year in 2014 and remains a charity; at its heart is the highly regarded Best of Young Jazz educational project for young musicians.
A voluntary organisation, which plants & maintains floral displays and permanent beds in the town. We also help the local authorities by weeding, planting trees and permanent plants and carry out general maintenance of various areas as and when we can. Our much-admired floral boats, troughs and barrels are paid for by obtaining sponsorship, from fundraising and donations. We always welcome new volunteers!
We have entered Upton upon Severn into the annual RHS Heart of England in Bloom campaign (www.heartofenglandinbloom.co.uk) since 2003 and have gained a Gold award every year. We have also been awarded two Silver Gilt awards in the RHS Britain in Bloom campaign.
